New Season, New Goals!

It’s been a minute in between blog posts for me!

I took a break from work and finally did some R&R in Thailand a little earlier this year. It was so nice to get away from all the usual hustle and bustle and just chill out! Since my return I have been busy get my clients back on track and getting Terminator Fitness ready for the summer season ahead. This also includes setting up our newest class Terminator Pilates (you’ll hear more about this next month in my blog, or just head to my social pages for some info!).

As I mentioned I’ve been busy getting my crew back on track this month and helping them set goals to ensure they finish 2023 strong. So I thought it was the perfect opportunity to jump on here and throw around some ideas that can help you set new goals for the new season.

Now, I’m not going to sit here and tell you things like “summer bodies are made in winter!” because frankly it’s all a little cliche and i’m sure you’ve heard these types of sayings before. The turn of the seasons however is always a great time to re-evaluate and set yourself new goals, here’s some reasons why;

  • The obvious - the days a longer, warmer and brighter (it makes it easier to get more into your day, and put that spring in your step!)

  • Usually we set goals that are achievable over 3-6 months, and chances are you set yourself goals at the beginning of winter too. So it’s time to see what you achieved and what you want to do next.

  • Timing your goal setting with seasonal changes is advantageous because often our work & activities we do in our spare time are also usually tied to this.

  • Regardless of all of the above, we should always be checking in with ourselves and our goals to ensure they stay current, especially if you have fallen of the bandwagon!

So, now we know the reasons why we should set fresh goals, here are some tips to help you set these goals for the spring/summer season:

  • Set clear, simple and specific goals - don’t make them complex, you’ll just confuse yourself and it will then potentially be a redundant task.

  • Think about what your end of year looks like. Do you have travel plans? Do you have time off over the Xmas period? Does work ramp up or down? Consider your lifestyle and set realistic goals based on this.

  • GET OUTDOORS! Whilst it still rains (especially in Melbourne) get out and enjoy the sun! We run our bootcamps outdoors in the spring and summer seasons, and this always helps our clients feel fresh and motivated.

  • Plan your workouts and diet around your events. For me October and November have a lot happening, so I ensure I look at my schedule week to week and plan around what is on. If you don’t allow yourself wiggle room during the week, and try to stick to the same days for your workouts for example, chances are you’ll end up missing a few. Then from here it becomes a slippery slope!

  • Book a consultation with your Personal Trainer, we are your number one tool that can help you stay accountable and motivated at any time of the year!

  • Be kind to yourself, don’t add to much mental pressure into decision making about your goals, this can have the reverse effect.

That’s it! Now get out there and get yourself feeling, fresh, fit and happy for our awesome summer ahead.
